Yankees draft shaping up

http://bronxbaseballdaily.com/2012/0...gning-tracker/

Not a huge amount of guys left to sign, the best being Jose Mesa jr a pitcher and Vincent Jackson a top LH OF prospect.Neither will probably sign.
I'm assuming they get the #1 Hensley done soon.

Lail & Dawe should get done also and both are real prospects.

Yankees strategy appeared to be this season to bring in more LH pitching and additional RH relief pitching with good arms.
Additionallly they went for a lot of kids with the "hit tool" not worrying about athleticism, since there's lot's of speed already in the system.
A kid who is off to an amazing start, so much so that he was hit by a pitch on purpose in his 3rd-4th game the other night is Saxon Butler, a power and high average hitting LH first baseman. He can rake and looks like a steal so far.

Hit their names on the link above and read profiles. The kid Mikolas from Wisconsin is supposedly a stud lefthanded hitter also, great bat.

MAny think Chris Breen is the steal of this draft.Kid didn't even negotiate his contract, said, "Tell me where to report, I want to be a YAnkee."
"With their 12th pick the Yankees selected Chris Breen, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound catcher out of Winter Springs High School in Florida.

A two sport athlete through most of high school, Breen quit playing football his senior year to focus on baseball and it paid off as he hit .492. He’s an advanced high school hitter in that his coach says he has no trouble with curveballs or breaking balls. Said to be a vocal leader on the field, he has gained the trust of his coaches to the point where he will change their game plans for the pitchers on the fly during games, another rarity for high schoolers.

Breen is big and projectable. His defense is raw and he has good speed for a catcher. His best tool is hitting and he has good power potential."
