"Here’s what I think happened. As we all know, Jay Glazer broke the story. It’s well established that Glazer is good friends with Rex Ryan and he was Glazer’s source. The story came out (I’m guessing) in Ryan’s exuberance to Glazer, but Ryan isn’t exactly the one poring over the contracts. The news came out too early, and it probably wasn’t the GM or Asst. GM’s fault on the Jets. They were still working out their deal points when it did happen."
