And his top CB Dunta Robinson is still holding out.
Kubiak lists three key Texans as 'day-to day' for opener

Quarterback Matt Schaub, receiver Kevin Walter and free safety Eugene Wilson are Texans starters who are “day-to-day” for the regular-season opener against the New York Jets because of injuries suffered in Monday's 17-10 loss to Minnesota.
“Let's hope all three guys are OK,” coach Gary Kubiak said Tuesday.
In the second quarter, Schaub suffered a sprained ankle while running for a first down on what turned out to be the Texans' only touchdown drive. He returned to lead the offense to a Kris Brown field goal but didn't play in the third quarter as planned.
After the game, Schaub was wearing a protective boot. As a precaution, the team had Schaub taken to his car in a golf cart.
“He'll be day-to-day, (but) we're shooting for opening day,” Kubiak said. “There will probably be just an update every day.”
Kubiak was asked if he's worried Schaub could miss the Jets game.
“I'm not at that point right now,” he said. “He's very upbeat about it. As I was driving home last night, he called and told me, ‘Hey, I'll be fine. I'll be ready to go.'
“I think it's something we'll be dealing with day-to-day and see how much progress he makes.”
Schaub wasn't going to play in the last preseason game against Tampa Bay anyway. Dan Orlovsky, who has three turnovers in his last two games, will start. Rex Grossman, who has recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered against Kansas City, will come off the bench behind Orlovsky.
“He (Orlovsky) is making progress, but he's continuing to make some of the mistakes that can get you hurt,” Kubiak said. “The key to him helping this team win and the key to his career is eliminating those three or four plays that can get you beat.”
Orlovsky was 7-of-11 for 74 yards Monday. On first down at the Minnesota 4, he threw a bad pass and was intercepted.
“(Offensive coordinator) Kyle (Shanahan) and I have got to do a better job with him,” Kubiak said. “We've got to get him more comfortable (because) you can't make those mistakes and win.
“Dan's our backup, and if something happens to Matt, he's got to be ready to go.”
Walter suffered a hamstring injury. If he can't play, Andre Davis will replace him. Jacoby Jones, Darnell Jenkins and Glenn Martinez also will see more playing time against the Bucs.
“Obviously, it'll be a little time, but we're hoping he (Walter) makes it back for opening day. It'll be the same thing for Eugene.
“With the issue Kevin is dealing with right now, Jacoby is going to play a great deal in this game. Jenkins will also play a great deal. Martinez has done some really good things when he's played.”
Wilson was injured when quarterback Brett Favre threw an illegal crackback block. After the game, Wilson said his injured knee was OK, but Kubiak said the team is worried about him.
Kubiak didn't say who would start if Wilson can't play against the Jets. The safeties are interchangeable. Brandon Harrison and John Busing are the backups at free safety. Nick Ferguson can play both spots.
Because a lot of starters won't play against Tampa Bay, two rookie tight ends — Anthony Hill and James Casey — will play more.
“They've done some good things,” Kubiak said. “They need to play a bunch. We gave Anthony a chance to play with the first group (against the Vikings). He struggled some, so I'm anxious to see how he responds in the next game.”
