JetJim is on a distinguished road
Rex Ryan

He has been on the local Baltimore news alot lately. Did anyone see the interview he held yesterday? A local reported asked him about how the Titans Chris Johnson was able to run so well against his defense. Rex didn't even hesitate. He said "He might have run for some yards, but he didn't manage to finish that game, did he? Not sure what happened there. They can cry all they want, but we are playing next Sunday. I guess they will just have to watch, hunh?"

I WANT THIS GUY! We need toughness and we don't have much right now. Ryan is a tough guy. The players will love him (just like they do in Balt.). Schotty Jr. is still under contract and can't leave even if he wanted to unless the Jets let him out of his contract. Remember last year when Eric wanted Rob Ryan as his DC? Crazy Al refused to let him go. Of course Eric grabbed him now because his contract with the Raiders had expired.

Get Ryan and make Jr. stay another season. He needs a chance to prove that his O can be effective. It looks like most of the interest in him right now is as an OC, not a HC. IF it is true that Eric was limiting his offense, we will see fairly quickly. If the Jets O next year is significantly more effective, he'll get his HC gig at the end of next season. Then Ryan can bring up Callahan to run the O. Good continuity that way, particularly along the O-line.

My personal preference early in this process had been Ron Rivera, but we aren't even going to interview him, and the more I see of Ryan, the more I like! And there are a couple of things I think we can count on with him. He is a way better motivator than Eric could ever hope to be. He believes in players holding each other accountable, he will make this team tougher overall, and he will run the 3-4 the way ity is supposed to be run. His defensive philosophy is very aggressive. He doesn't wait for the Offense to dictate, and then adjust. His defenses ATTACK! These are all things that this team desperately needs. Woody and T need to get this done!
