I'm a little conflicted on starting Bridgewater right out of the gate. If he crushes Cassel and Ponder in the competition then I guess they're not going to be able to hold him back. I just cringe at the thought of sending Bridgewater up against that Rams' defense in the first game of the year at St. Louis. With Greg Williams returning as DC and the addition of Aaron Donald at DT to an already dominant front line, I have visions of Bridgewater getting worked over the same way Brett Favre got pounded against the Greg Williams lead Saints' defense in the playoffs several years ago.

I'm as anxious as any Vikings fan to get Bridgewater out there to see where he can lead this team, but I would be OK if they waited until mid season before he begins his journey.

Couldn't agree more. Honestly, sit the guy till he wins the starting job. If it's a wash, err on the side of veteran and let him develop safely. Give the guy his time to learn without pressure. Norv will probably run a complicated system that will take a rookie some time to fully digest.
