    Eagles sign LB Tulloch

Doug Pederson said something had to be done. Now, something has been done.

The Eagles signed veteran linebacker Stephen Tulloch on Sunday to a one-year deal worth a reported $3 million. Of that, $1.75 million is guaranteed.

Tulloch will replace rookie Joe Walker, who tore an ACL in his left knee during Thursday night’s 17-0 win over the Steelers. Walker was working primarily as the backup to Jordan Hicks at middle linebacker.

Tulloch comes in as Hicks’ likely backup, though it isn’t out of the question that Hicks could move to one of the outside backer spots, which are occupied at the moment by Nigel Bradham and Mychal Kendricks.

During his news conference Saturday, Pederson was asked about bringing in somebody with experience at the position, and he responded, “With the loss now to Joe, obviously something is going to have to be done.”

Tulloch, 31, has experience in defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s system, having played for him in both Tennessee and Detroit. He entered the league in 2006 and made 64 straight starts from 2010-2013 before injury ruined his 2014 season. Last season, he started 15 games and played in all 16, finishing with 74 tackles and two fumble recoveries.

good move , savvy vet who knows the system and may even become a starter

Congrats I hope Tulloch does well up there, but Dolphins sure could have used him. Tulloch visited the Fins first, and lo and behold they niggled over his salary figure. Dumb G.M., some kind of former Jet, wanted him to go from starter pay to bare minimum, just about.
