ROUND 1 - JASON PIERRE-PAUL/DE/SOUTH FLORIDA
I know I took him in a previous Mock Draft, but the situation on Draft Day was different - Dan Williams and Brian Bulaga were both there for the taking. Instead, the Giants take a luxury pick on a DE whose 1A resume is one season in which he started a whopping 7 games. George Selvie had a strong year then flamed out as people got more film on him and ended up as a 7th Round pick. This pick has the potential to flame out just as bad. I have seen people liken this to when the Giants drafted Mathias Kiwanuka, but I am not so sure that that is an apt comparison. At that point the Giants knew that Strahan was on his last legs. Now, while Osi and Kiwanuka have made statements indicating that they will leave if they are not starters, I cannot see the Giants not making a strong pitch to keep them, especially if they rebound under new Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell

ROUND 2 - LINVAL JOSEPH/DT/EAST CAROLINA
After passing on Dan Williams, the Giants get a similar player in Linval Joseph. Despite the rumors of Jared Odrick and Brian Price as possible targets for the Giants, I think Joseph fits much better. A big reason for the collapse of the Giants DL was the decline of Fred Robbins due to injuries and age. Barry Cofield is a good run stuffer around the line of scrimmage, but he is not a penetrator against bigger interior OL. Chris Canty has the potential to be very productive penetrating, but he is not as stout as ideal against the run. Joseph has the potential to take what the Giants miss from Cofield/Canty and become a productive 1-technique DT

ROUND 3 - CHAD JONES/S/LSU
At one time considered a high 2nd Round pick, but had a mediocre combine and supposedly interviewed poorly. Has a lot of potential, but has previously split his time playing baseball. Even though the Giants signed Rolle, Kenny Phillips's knee is a long-term concern and Deon Grant is a stopgap, at best. Jones's ability could also allow the Giants to use Rolle as a slot CB when they go 5 or 6 DB's which would mask some of the lack of depth at CB. Has experience returning kicks and has the skillset to be a very good player on kick coverage

ROUND 4 - PHILLIP DILLARD/MLB/NEBRASKA
After not selecting a LB on the first two days of the draft, the Giants address it in Round 4. Dillard was under consideration for the pick in Round 3, so I am sure they were thrilled when he fell to Round 4. According to Mack Brown, Dillard and Suh were the two main reasons that Texas was held to 13 points in the Big XII Championsip game. Solid run stuffer and while he is not known for his pass coverage, his 10 yard split/3 Cone/Short Shuttle were among the best for MLB's in the 2010 draft. With no clear starter, Dillard has as much shot as any on the Giants roster to win a role at MIKE

ROUND 5 - MITCH PETRUS/OG/ARKANSAS
Finally, OFFENSE! Petrus came into college as a FB and fits the profile of lineman that the Giants like. Strong in the weightroom, but does not always transfer it onto the field. Some questions about his ability to add more bulk to his frame. Some reports indicate that he might have the potential to play OC at the NFL level. With Boothe as the #3 OG, Petrus will probably spend much of the year inactive or on Special Teams

ROUND 6 - ADRIAN TRACY/LB/WILLIAM & MARY
Undersized college DE making the transition to SAM. Porductive at the 1AA level, but making a big jump in competition. The Giants like his potential at SAM, but realistically we are talking Practice Squad here or gameday inactive

ROUND 7 - MATT DODGE/P/EAST CAROLINA
Rated by some as the top P in the draft. Needs to get more consistent with his mechanics, but shows a strong leg and the ability to pin opponents inside the 20. Also has experience kicking off. Did not understand the pick at first, then I saw reports that Jeff Feagles may retire as his body is struggling to get back into football shape after all these years
