Plaxico Burress to have case delayed again

Gary Myers and Melissa Grace of the New York Daily News report There is no plea deal for the gunslinging Plaxico Burress.

The former New York Giants receiver will appear in court Monday on gun charges, but the case is likely to be delayed because his lawyer has been unable to make a deal with prosecutors.

"There is no agreement at all," defense lawyer Benjamin Brafman told the Daily News.

The wide receiver hopes to get the case put off until September, which means he could play next season, Brafman said.

"We'll be in and out of court in five minutes," Brafman said. "There will be an adjournment."

The case was first postponed April 1 so the two sides could continue plea bargaining over the Nov. 29 fiasco in which the troubled star put a bullet through his thigh while partying at the Latin Quarter club.

Prosecutors had no comment.

Pro football officials are not sure Burress will play in 2009.

This was already reported but this writer is giving it a negative angle. They will postpone this matter until after the season and he will serve some time early next year, in the meantime he will be able to play this season, I don't see why not.

The fact that it's getting adjourned again may give Plax a chance to play this year unless Goodell suspends him

Goodell will suspend him 2 to 3 games max if at all.

Yeah, but he says he will not make a decision until AFTER he is sentenced, and if he gets to play this season before he gets sentenced or gets off, Goodell maynot suspend him until after the season.

We could still realistically get him for a year before he has to pay the piper.

Even better then.
