-Louisville wide receiver Mario Urrutia will bypass his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Urrutia had 35 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns during an injury-marred season in 2007. Urrutia played in 34 career games for the Cardinals, catching 130 passes for 2,271 yards and 16 touchdowns.
may be good for the birds, Urrutia will probably go late 2nd-3rd round and is the tall, athletic playmaker the Eagles need...and may look to!
- secondary coach John Harbaugh will interview for the head coach vacancy at UCLA, and if he lands the position, the longtime NFL assistant annually will compete with his brother in the Pac 10.
The interview was first reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer. A league source and a source close to Harbaugh confirmed the impending meeting between Harbaugh and UCLA officials.
Harbaugh, 45, was moved by Eagles coach Andy Reid to the secondary coaching position this year, after spending nine seasons as the special teams coach. Harbaugh was widely regarded as one of the NFL's top special teams mentors.
Good luck to him, always thought Harbaugh was a GREAT coach. Thought he would land an NFL head coach job in the next 3 seasons but the UCLA job would be a major acheivment for him.
- The Dallas Cowboys on Friday signed starting nose tackle Jay Ratliff, who took over the position when veteran Jason Ferguson was injured in the opening game of the year, to a five-year contract extension.
The deal, first reported by The Dallas Morning News and confirmed for ESPN.com by league sources, is worth $20.5 million and includes $8 million in bonuses.
good move :thumb:....Ratliff has stepped up big time, when Ferguson went down no one really thought Ratliff would be a capable player....as witnessed by the Tank signing! Good for Jay!
- Mario Williams had his best game at the perfect time.
Last year's No. 1 pick had a career-high 3½ sacks among seven tackles to lead the Houston Texans to a 31-13 victory over the Denver Broncos on Thursday night in Houston's first prime-time game in two years.
Looks smarter and smarter drafting Williams over Bush. A dominant DE over an underacheiving RB.....yeah, good move!
- Terrell Owens, unusually quiet this season, but never at a loss for words when the occasion required it, responded forcefully Wednesday to comments made last weekend by former Dallas Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson, now an analyst on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown."
On the show, Johnson said he believed former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells -- now also an analyst with ESPN -- deserves credit for what the Dallas team looks like now, with a 12-1 record.
In Dallas, Owens sharply criticized Johnson for defending Parcells, saying, "I challenge him to come down here and take my job. ESPN producers, let him go."
eh, of course Keyshawn could not take TO's job. Johnson, in his prime, was never as good as TO...let alone after retirement. I agree with Key that Parcell's deserves credit tho, he took a bottom feeding Dallas team and brought in all the talent that is making them the NFC's best, including Tony Romo!
- Lastly when Wade Phillips, Dallas' head coach, was asked if the Eagles were a good team he responded "no" in a laughing manner. Hopefully this remark inspires last seasons NFC East champs to step up and knock the Boys down a notch. The Eagles are veteran team with alot of pride and if inspired like thatmay step up to the challenge. I hope!
NOTE TO MY FELLOW EAGLES FANS: NOT EVERY SEASON WILL BE AN EXCITING PLAYOFF SEASON. WE NEED TO ROLL WITH THEPUNCHES AND BACK OUR TEAM, EVEN IN DESPERATE DAYS LIKE THESE! WE WILL RETURN TO PLYOFF CALIBER...IT WON'T BE LIKE PERENNIAL BOTTOM FEEDING REDSKINS!!!
