That would be a coup for the Jets if they could swing a trade for Williams, top 5 WR talent for sure.

I'd rather get a pick and sign WR Bryant Johnson

All rumors and vague inuendo started by evil Jets fans! How dare you sir...I say how dare you!

HeHeH, J/K, really it is rumors. Roy is an RFA next season and UFA in 09. The Lions continue to carry the title of "Bottom Feeder" and as a result, most reasonable watchers assume, any successful players will probably want to vacate the premise when given the opportunity. I have not seen anything locally to give any indication, one way or the other on this. He has continued to wax poetic about Texas, but says he wants to stay in Detroit. Enter the sportswriters and fill in the obligatory speculation.

Believe me though, it would not surprise me if he (read his agent) sends out feelers exploring his options in the 07/08 offseason. If the Lions are going to lose him in 09, they may be interested in "getting something" for him in 08. Ooops, there I go speculating...man, its freakin' contagious!

If I see anything that looks a little more official I'll send it your way.

If I were the Lions I would require Vilma and the Jets high 2nd round pick!

Vilma, when healthy, is one of the best 4-3 LBs out there and is still young and would be a very nice combo with Ernie Sims!

Then if I were the Lions I would go:

round 1: Malcom Jenkins CB OSU (if he declares) or CB Terrell Thomas senior from USC if not.....both top 10 picks IMO come draft day (both 6'1" and sub 4.45 speed)

round 2: Lawrence Jackson DE USC
round 2: Harry Douglas WR Louisville (fast, fast and a nice compliment for CJ)
round 3: Tommy Blake DE TCU (could play 4-3 DE or OLB!)

the Lions would have a new top ILB, a great young CB and two new explosive DEs to harrass the QB, along with a good WR to bolster the WR corps minus Roy Will.

looks good to me.....thoughts?

Yeah, the Lions can't stop my grandma on a black Friday shopping spree, if Kitna were the blue light special. They need Offensive Tackles like Britney Spears needs a good swift slap in the face. If you look up the definition of "Rag Doll" it includes a picture of Kitna gettin' mauled by every DE in the NFL. Moving Woody to the RT may help some of this, but I expect a little consistency before I start anointing him. Backus' nickname is "Blockless" in D-Town, draw your own conclusions...

More exclamatory defamations than real thoughts but there you go :coffee2:

P.S. I like the thought of Vilma playing for Detroit, but I am not so sure I would give up Roy for him. A 2n d rounder for Vilma would be fine, but imho, Roy would not have to be in the equation for that trade. If the Lions want an ILB, I'd rather go for it in the draft and keep Roy.

A 2nd rounder for Vilma would be an incredibly poor deal IMO. We picked him high in the first round, and he's met all the expectations that come with being selected that high. He isn't a perfect fit for our system, but that doesn't mean we should ship him out at a price that's way below his market value- especially since he's just now entering his prime years. Gimme a break.

Vilma and a 2nd for Roy Williams is very fair imo!

Eh, we'll have to see. For me the issue is his knee. Until proven otherwise he is damaged goods. He is not worth a first at this point in time. Just my .02.

Thank you Leo, like I said Williams for Vilma would be a steal for the Jets, although Marinelli would make Vilma into a player again in that system.
