If anyone disagrees, please speak to bitonti about QBIE philosophy and the fact that "he's" 2-4 as a starter with four TD and nine INTs.
(I figured, what better way to christen the new board ...? ;))

Glad you found us IBG!
We are in a tough position with Clemens right now. I see a lot in him from a talent standpoint that makes me think he can develop into a very good QB for us. But I also have not seen enough from him yet to be very sure about that. Plus, the idea that Chad can simply be reinserted as a starter is probably not realistic either for a number of reasons (cost, perception, etc).
That said, unless they abslutely FALL IN LOVE with a Brohm or Ryan, I dont thin we have any choice but to cast our lot with Clemens for 2008 and hope that the acuracy and decision maing improve as he gets more experience and beter protection.

With the way he misses some of his targets I think Eli Clemens is more suitable.

I agree, it's very difficult to assess his value to the team. There are too many inconsistencies with his play to firmly say one way or the other.

Thanks. So far I mostly hate this place (JA was much less tedious) but will get used to it. One nice thing is they allow users to turn off icons, so no more b!tching from those who don't care for them. :kev:
(Good thing too, 'cuz this place has a GAZILLION!! :jaw:)
Yes, it appears my fears have been realized with Kellen. The Jets don't know much more about his upside now than before but also don't know enough to give up on him either. The jury's out.
Oh well, as Jets fans we really don't know anything else. Now I am simply hoping for the Patsies to waltz into next week like it's a given only to be unhappily surprised. :raiderman:

he has a strong arm and a good head...lets give him a lil more time...also i like ryan but brohm is on his way to bust city...yeah kellen is a cause for some concern but lets get some more issues on this team re-solved before naming him the scape-goat

LOL, true. He just reminds me of Brooksie the way he scrambles around it seems his legs as his best asset.

My post was more tongue-in-cheek than anything ljs. Those of is that came over from Jets Addicts will probably drive you nutz with this stuff for a while .. sorry.
I'm not looking to scapegoat or given up on Kellen. No, there's been far too much scapegoating for the QB of the Jets in recent years. ;)

I'm not thrilled wiht the new "home" either. Too confusing but what choice do we have????
I do think we know more about Kellen's upside then we did prior to him playing. At least now we have a body of work to scrutinize. But what we were all hoping for was that he clearly would establish himself as our guy for the future as O'brien did in 7 games in 84 or Chad did in 10 games in 02...and we havent seen that.
But there is alot about him I like. Lightening release, good mobility (despite what the idiot beat writers say, hes running for his life most of the time), moxy, strong arm. I have to keep the faith that the accuracy and decision making will improve wiht experience and beter protection. He seems too smart a guy to be dumb on the field once it "slows down" for him.

Since I cant use my RsmtFan sign on here, I will say one thing this team is a shambles at this point and I have 0 confidence in Mangini to turn it around. I can see a player revolt pretty soon. BTW I see nothing about my name sake C. Brennan being thrown about.

IBG i will say this much the QB-IE theory still stands, clemens had 2 brutal interceptions yesteday and while that may not be the only reason they lost, it was a huge part of it. If he just eats the ball or throws it away, there would at least be a FG on the board making it 18-17 after the FG instead of 15-17.
also like Bollinger, Clemens isn't getting any taller.

I think the team around Brooks in 2005 was arguably worse than this one in some areas. "Just saying..."
So I see you've chosen to start sticking it to KC in the name of QBIEism - a predictable development. ;)

Clemens has all of the tools, he just needs to work on some things over the offseason namely his footwork. It's tough to really be hard on him other than when he makes poor decisions like he did yesterday. He's playing behind an OL that needs 2 new starters (possibly 3 if Moore continues his marginal play), the LG position has two players switching every series, he hasn't had both of his top WRs at 100%, and the running game has been inconsistent. The Jets can't stand pat like they did last offseason and fail to adequately address the OL. Without blocking it's tough for any QB to succeed. Also, it couldn't hurt for this offense to get a dependable 3rd WR over 6'3 and/or a TE that can cause matchup problems over the middle. Shore up the OL and put him in a position to succeed, he's a first time starter, not exactly a guy that's going to come in and succeed in a bad situation.
If this QB class had a true can't miss prospect I'd consider using our 1st pick on a QB but I really don't see one. Ryan looks like a good prospect but he forces the ball into coverage far too much. Woodson's got the tools but has that Leftwich-esque delivery. Brohm is still living off of his hype from his junior year as he looked mediocre every time I saw him play this season. We're rebuilding anyways, I say continue to fill holes and put Clemens in a situation to succeed. If he's not the answer then we'll hopefully have things shored up to the point that a young QB can just come in and manage the offense the way that Roethlisberger did his first few seasons. Give him time, he's shown promise, now he needs the experience.

you can come up with any fancy theory names you want, im just calling it like i see it. the Jets lost and Kellen threw 2 INT, including 1 at the 1 yard line. bottom line it's on the Qb's head.
unlike Bolly however, Clemens at least has theoretical upside - he could get better.
Shottenheimer needs to stop calling fade patterns until they get a TO or Plaxico type at WR.
The goal line fades are bad enough but the 30 yard fade patterns to Wallace Wright are just beyond ridiculous.
