Here's a quote from his Monday Morning QB article. Got a nice chuckle out of it.
7. I think this is what I didn't like about Week 13:
a. In case D'Brickashaw Ferguson didn't get the number of that truck that steamrolled him Sunday for an embarrassing, drive-ending sack in Miami, the number is 99. Jason Taylor. And D'Brick, you might want to learn leverage as part of your blocking bag of tricks.
b. This is the man the Jets picked No. 4 overall last year. The jury is, at best, still out on Ferguson. But he's been as leaky as dominant in his first year and three-quarters.
I give credit where it's due, Peter King you saw Jason Taylor get the inside on Brick and get by him for a sack, bravo. Far from getting steamrolled but ok, whatever you think will give your readers a chuckle. Honestly though, you might want to watch a little more than one play there big guy. Minus that ONE play can you point me to a spot in that game where Brick struggled? No, you can't you know why? He played a pretty strong game minus that ONE play against a DE that might possibly make a push for the HOF with a few more productive seasons that's why.
Lovely how you say nothing at all for the 9 straight weeks of dominant pass protection that he had from Weeks 2 through 10 where he shut down Terrell Suggs, Aaron Schobel twice, flat out dominated Jason Taylor in the first Miami game, neutralized Justin Smith, Andre Carter, and gave up a sack in garbage time to Osi Umenyoira in a game that was pretty much over after shutting him down for 58 and a half minutes. DeMarcus Ware got a few pressures against him but didn't get a sack, he had an up and down game against James Harrison who BTW made Jonathan Ogden, look like a backup caliber OT on Monday Night football a few weeks back, and as King pointed out here he gave up a sack against Jason Taylor.
Learn leverage? How about you learn to watch more than one play and actually come off as credible next time? His knock coming out was his average run blocking and that has actually been better since the bye week. I guess nitpicky criticism comes with being the 4th overall pick, one bad play and suddenly "the jury's out on you." Matt Light had Antwan Barnes, a role player for Baltimore blow by him for a sack on Monday Night. Bet the jury's still out on him is it? Does he need to learn leverage?
In short King? Back your analysis up with more than one play, that way you don't come off as nitpicky because newsflash, everyone gets beat eventually. If we're going to really be this silly make sure you call out Walter Jones or John Ogden the next time they give up a sack. Or are HOFers untouchable? It's ok, I don't expect you to make a bold move like that. After all if you did that you might come off as consistent.
