I think what bothers me and so many others is the fact that after 20 games, the only thing that has changed on the positive side to any real extent has to do with Adrian Peterson. The bottom line - wins - has degenerated to an abominable number. Almost everything else has gotten worse or stayed the same.

I'm not much for stats, but some are undeniable. Since the sixth game of last year, the Vikings are tied with the Raiders for the worst record in the NFL. Also, the Vikings will have to go 7-5 on the season to avoid a sub-500 record. The last time that happened was in the very earliest days of the franchise with Norm Van Brocklin as coach. I remember it. Yup, I'm old.

There are so many reasons for this that I don't know where to start. The ONE THING I do know is that ultimately, the head coach has to be held accountable. I thought with a new DC would have a more aggressive philosophy and even though Frazier is the guy calling the defense, it's up to Childress to change things up if it's not working. After all, isn't that why Childress gave the play calling duties to Bevell; so Childress could view the overall game better?

The only way this team can improve IMO, is to do what they do best and that is control the line of scrimmage, especially on offense. Vike brother, you old o-lineman you, would you not agree that going to a man blocking scheme would be better for our guys than the zone blocking scheme that is in place now? As far as defense is concerned, I remember the dominant defenses the Vikings used to employ and using 5 (five) linemen to get after the QB and a smack-the-WR-in-the-face style for the DBs.

In the end, if nothing changes, nothing changes, and we can all look forward to a 3-4 win season. I am tired of other teams being able to move forward and show progress as the Vikings wallow in a morass of mediocrity. I have to think that if we had any of 24 -25 of the other head coaches in the league, we would be competing for a playoff spot, but hey, Zygi loves the guy. We are so screwed. All you guys can chip in with your thoughts because I don't have the time or energy to add infinitum.

Skol Vikings!!!

You are most certainly correct. The only linemen we have that could suceed in a zone blocking scheme is Birk, Herrara, and possibly Hutch just due to his supperior talent. We are deffinatly built for man blocking.

I also wonder why we dont play more bump and run like what the Packers do. Let the CBs reroute the WRs, giving our DL more time to get to the QB.

I actually believe that I could gameplan better if given the chance over Childress. Bad, the two of us must be missing something if we can see these problems, but the guy who gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars cant. Someone please tell me what Im missing!!

indeed. i mentioned that the other game. we have these big hitting, strong corners that we seem to want as a standard for our team, yet we won't play bump and run like you see with them alot. they all have some power to jar a reciever, i just don't know why they don't try.

All you're missing is the opportunity bro. Of course you could gameplan better than Childress & Co. But then again, you could draw plays out of a hat and be better than they are, so maybe it's just them :pound:.
