@*$)#($^*&@(%^!!!
What the hell is happening. This is the worst offense I have ever seen in my entire life. End of story. They cant get into the endzone to save their lives. Our tackles suck. Cook gets dominated on every play and looks like he doesnt belong on the field. McKinnie is on the same page getting burnt every play. If I see someone blow by McKinnie one more time only to see him push them in the back straight into our quarter back Im gonna try out for Left Tackle. Not that Kelly Holcombe helps matters, the man has no mental clock whatsoever in his head. He has no idea when to get rid of the ball and scares the crap out of me when he throws it away as hes falling to the ground. And that missed throw to Rice??? HOW DO YOU MISS THAT HE WAS WIDE OPEN!!!!! Thats the second week in a row hes missed a wide open reciever for sure TD. WE CANT AFFORD TO MISS TD OPPURTUNITIES!
And our coaching? please do i even have to start. To not have AD on the field for our entire last drive, the only player on our entire offense who scares people is un explainable. The play calling is also absurd. Its like we have no plays scripted for the red zone. As soon as we get into tht 20-25 yard range we run (most likely with chester) and incomplete a few passes en route to ANOTHER field goal. Thank God AD has some class because I wouldnt blame him if he wont on a complete rampage after that game. You could tell he gave all he had on every play, and in turn he gets nothing. Not even an oppurtunity to win the game on his own.
Cant complain about the defens in general except for cedric what happened to him. He is playing flat out awful getting abused. Put McCauley ahead of him.
Im disgusted I hate Childress FIRE HIM NOW
thank god we have the future with AD

The future starts the day Childress is fired. Until then, get used to it. I also have to say, again, that I'm so damn tired of the Vikings getting screwed EVERY GAME by the officials! Its not just this year either. I remember when Bud used to get fined for his remarks on how ridiculous it is to have amateur officials when every other pro sport has real pros calling the games. This has been going on for forty years and it's getting worse instead of better.

If only we could get rid of bad calls and Chilly. It would be amazing, but lets get real neither are happening for awhile. Trust me I want Chilly gone as much as any1 else, but until the Zigster wises up were doomed to run, run, pass and punt. Why AD/AP wasn't on the field the whole last drive baffles me. I think for our next coach Zigy should host open try-outs then some of us can prove to Vikes-nation that an unexperienced fan of the game could outcoach that twat named Badbrad Childress. It's really all to sad to see such a waste of Defensive talent. Should have we got Schaub, Carr, Garcia, hell even Leftwich? Yes. Should have we gone after Stallworth, Cusrtis, or anyone other than B.Wade? Yes!. Danial Grahm? No****. A lack of F.A's and a arse of a coach almost makes me want to chear for the Browns. Atleast they can put up some good numbers.

I actually thought the play calling on the first drive this past week was good. Then it all reverted back to retarded. I also don't mind putting other backs in in the two minute drill, but after the third week they should have worked hard to bring AP up to speed. Sidney Rice starting showing some potential. That's all the good comments.
McKinnie is killing us right now. Birk and Hutchinson are playing pretty solid, but the rest of the line and Shiancoe can't block anybody. If Williamson's only asset is speed and Al Harris can run stride for stride with him, then he is officailly worthless. I'm not knocking Harris, but he is maybe the 20th best corner in the league. At least we tried to go to our key playmaker Jeff Dugan. Our game and clock management are terrible. Despite having a relatively good D, any team that wants to go with 3 and 5 step drops will move the ball effectively against us. We are basically relying on interceptions to stop drives.
I generally don't complain about officiating, but I thought the refs did a pretty poor job yesterday. There were a ton of holds that they didn't call (on both teams). Woodson was holding all day. The call on the first play against Winfield was ridiculus. The last no call was about as obvious as PI can get.
The bottom line is that they aren't even fun to watch. They aren't even fun to read about. Fortunately here, we can at least have fun griping and waiting for a Chili free future. If Zygi likes full pockets, he better make a move soon before the boycotts start. Die hard fans can find ways to send a message that we care about the team. Fair weather fans will just lose interest. I'd like to fire Childress now bring in anyone. We'd have to keep Bevell around until the end of the season. Maybe we could pay Bud Grant or Mike Ditka or Jimmy Johnson or Rich Gannon or John Randle $5,000,000 to finish out the season. Even Art Shell might be an upgrade. Maybe not.
Actually, I'd like to see John Randle as the interim coach. I'd feel bad for the equipment guy having to handle all the urine soaked pants after Randle has to inspire some of the players.

John Randle? Not a bad idea. As for Art Shell being an upgrade, I sure this so. Steckle would be an upgrade and thats just painful to say :(.

last year, I think, everyone was very classy about the situation. This year the forums here has grown some sharp teeth. I love it. Unleash the dogs I say. Unleash the dogs.
:)
Seriously though, I think what is most disappointing is that there is literally zero improvement other than AP over what we had last year...and considering how well Chester did, we are in basically the same spot performance wise...AP is doing slightly better yardage wise but much better in yards per carry...but overall, letting go of brad johnson looks like a mistake....and that is sorry to say.
Id take ditka at this point. Even he could do better than the uncreative maroon we have now.

This is the first game that I thought the offensive play-calling was OK.
Other than AP sitting on the bench, for the last drive, the play-calling was decent and was definitely good enough for them to have won the game. They took shots down field and mixed it up enough to move the ball. I was really impressed with Rice. He looks like a keeper. The WRs definitely look to be a good group. Every time they went with a 2 TE set, they were able to get a pass completion. Kinda proves that the problems have been with the OL all along?!
The problems this week were with QB inaccuracies, right-side OL ( a few bad plays from a sick McKinnie ), and tough ref calls.
One ref call our way or one long pass completed, and they would have been right there with GB.
If they can find a plug for the OL, I think that a healthy TJ and another dose of Sunday's decent play-calling can beat da Bears. The Bears defense is in bad shape.
Even though they lost to GB, I'm actually excited to watch them play Chicago. They look to be one or two plays away from being a really good team.
Man, if they just had Favre on the good guys side.
Come to the light side, Brett.....

As long as we have Childress at the helm, we are going nowhere. I am so frustrated and disappointed with the lack of success, and in fact regression of this team under the current staff that I really don't know what to say. I live in Detroit, and I am already willing to admit to Lions fans that they have a better team, when was the last time any of us would say that? Other than Peterson and our run defense, this team has no redeeming qualities at all. The best hope for Jackson at this point is he becomes an average QB after this year, our WR group reaches average status, and our pass defense eventually cracks the top 25 in the league. No way is this a receipe for success. I have been a viking fan for as many of my 30 years as I can remember, and at no other time do I remember having any less hope for a Super Bowl appearance, let alone championship, in my lifetime as I do now.
Childress has taken the "plum job" in the NFL when he started and helped turn it into the Midwest version of the Radiers, or the new version of the old Arizona Cardinals. Nice Job. Thanks a lot.

Look at the bright side guys, we will get to pick in the top 5 of the upcoming draft. But knowing these guys, since they have their QB of the future, they will screw this up. I hope they go after Kyle Bollier and draft Booty USC as the future QB. Our team really sucks!!!! and this coach sucks!!!!!! It is sad when you are already talking draft.

it is more than doubtful that williamson is our future. I see him as a solid 3rd stringer at best.
Our only future for the next 3 years is our run d, hutch, and peterson/taylor. The rest needs major work.

By the time our offense eventually gets it together (under a new coach for sure) we will have no more Pat Williams, Antoine Winfield, or Darren Sharper. Than its back to the old vikings with an offense and no D. Hopefully we can draft smart and be effective in free agency to even the haul.
Screw Childress he got a team loaded with potential and look what he did with it.
I like the Ditka idea, Jackson would be too afraid to throw another interception, and Cedric Griffen would make sure to stick with his man otherwise hes gettin chewed out big time.
FIRE CHILDRESS
We need to get this band wagon moving and moving fast similar to the fire millen movement Detroit had going. Any ideas? Should we create a website dedicated to the fireing of the inept ass we call our coach?

Why would you want Ditka? When Marty Schottenhimer is free? Or try to get
the Pittsburgh Spitter !

schottenheimer is a decent coach. He has a lot of wins under his belt.
I would take him in a heartbeat over the maroon we have now. Since he has proven so good with the people and the press we could move him up to head of PR for the vikes! hahah. You know everyone loves his warm friendly intelligent attitude.
if someone wants to make a fire childress website, I would be happy to pay for the hosting.

The only fans who have the right to be more upset than ours are the chargers lovin bunch in san diego.
Seems that Marty wasn't the main problem after all...seems he may not have been the problem at all.

indeed.
i think the thing that most intrigues me about Marty is that he coached LT to a record setting season. we have a young running back with a similar skill set (not as good of a pass catcher or blocker but point still there). if there's one thing im confident that he'd do, is boost our offensive TD/game ratio.

One problem with that...it didn't work. Millen is still there.
I think what happened was this: Childress gave a fine interview and impressed Zygi on the subject of something Zygi knows. What that was I don't know, could have been business, fine wine, cigars, chicks, whatever. But Zygi doesn't know anything about football and obviously Childress doesn't either. Until the people who hire the coach become people who know something about winning football games--not selling tickets, building a new stadium, selling jersies, PR, etc.--but football, we're not going to win.
The Vikings have plenty enough talent to be in the playoffs, but they have coaches with no clue and some of the players obviously are losing their motivation as well. Are we less talented than Detroit or Green Bay? Nope, but our QBs are no good and our coaching is worse.
I remember when McCarthy and Marinelli got those jobs I thought "who?". Now I wish like hell we had gotten one of these "nobodies" instead of the "hot assistant" that Childress had somehow become.
Childress' problem really isn't even that he doesn't know how to coach, it's that he doesn't know how to adapt. When you're getting embarrassed and you keep doing the same things, you're either stubborn or stupid, and both lose football games.
I still haven't heard an excuse for why AP isn't plsying more. But there is no excuse.

I think Marty is a good fit for what you have. He would rehabilitate that OL, feature AD, and cover up the weak spots. Cowher is kinda a reach, he's going to have his pick of any job, and wont mind waiting out another year if he feels none are the right situation. Marty, on the other hand, will want one last chance to vindicate himself, and isnt getting any younger. He will be eager to get back on the horse and is a proven coach who could attract a number of solid assistants to come to Minnesota for you.
